Some Exciting News!

I’ve been home training on the beautiful mountains on the west coast of Newfoundland this month to prepare for my next big adventure: the Grand Raid Réunion - Officiel Diagonale des Fous on Réunion Island!

Thanks to a partnership between the Grand Raid and QMT - Québec Mega Trail, I have the opportunity to compete in the 30th anniversary of this event in October. I’m grateful, excited, nervous, and still a little in shock that this is really happening!!!

Réunion Island is a Department of France located in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Mauritius. The race course crosses through the island’s tropical jungles and over active volcanoes to traverse from the south end of the island to the north. The Grand Raid’s Diagonale des Fous (which roughly translates to the “madman’s diagonal” / “the diagonal of fools”) is known as one of the world’s most difficult footraces. Ahhh!

Here are the race stats:

  • 165km / 100 miles

  • 10,210m / 33,497ft of elevation gain

  • 66 hour time cutoff

  • 3000 participants

  • Start: Thursday, October 20th at 9pm!

50 days until the race kicks off! Woohooooo!
